Tape used in the 70s, 80s and 90s is rapidly deteriorating and will soon go irrevocably bad. You should act today to digitize and preserve your music before it’s too late.
As of April 2025, we charge $25 per 1/4-inch reel and $75 per 2-inch reel, about a third of what others charge. And we are so determined to rescue music from the old tapes that when the backlog gets down, we run occasional sales.
We’ve been working with magnetic tape and tape recorders for 50 years. Nobody knows more. You can trust us to restore and transfer your master tapes lovingly and professionally. Here’s what we’ll do:
1. Check your tape to see if it needs thermal processing and/or mold remediation. If it does, we have all the right equipment and protocols to restore it for that once-in-a-lifetime transfer.
2. Transfer your masters from the Studer A827 into wav files through our Burl Mothership converters.
4. If applicable, decode from Dolby A or SR, or even dbx, so you can have both encoded and decoded files. Extra charge for hardware Dolby conversion.
5. Provide you with a link to download your wav files that can be imported into any DAW.
